Interview with Ludo Mortuus
Real stars of the tattoo scene are often guests in the Tattoo Anansi studio. Artists who practically go on tour all over the world.
One of them is Ludo Mortuus.
Ludo, introduce yourself to those who don’t know you yet.
Ludo: OK, my stage name is Ludo Mortuus and I’m from Italy.
So where does the impressively good English come from?
Ludo: I lived in Australia for a long time, and that’s where I started tattoo art.
And how long have you been doing this?
Ludo: I have been working as an artist for four years now. However it was only a year ago that I found my style, which also expresses me personally.
How would you describe your style?
Ludo: I call it Black Work Horror. I think it’s pretty good.
Your work is currently going through the roof at the moment. Over 25,000 followers on Instagram and a European tour. How does that feel for you?
Ludo: Of course, this is really something and also makes me proud. This is my first tour through Europe and after that I will continue on to New Zealand.
What awaits you there?
Ludo: My fiance and a new home. Australia was difficult with the visas in the end. But I’m happy with what awaits me in the future.
Let’s get back to your style. Black Work is currently the antithesis of mini tattoos and pastel stories. Can you have other styles yourself?
Ludo: I actually often get questions about whether I can tattoo other styles. Of course I can. However, I believe that it is important for an artist to find their style and develop it further.
Tattoo Anansi and the magazine say thank you for your visit and wish you a great tour through Europe. Hopefully we’ll see you again soon.
