Yes, it is possible to cover and tattoo over scars. However, the scar must have healed very well and must no longer be red. There are different types of scars: scars from abrasions, from superficial cuts, from operations or vaccinations, rather hard and rather soft scar tissue, flat and raised scars. And each type of scar absorbs color very differently, which makes tattooing technically very challenging.
The transition from the skin to the scar can also be difficult. This requires a very experienced tattoo artist who can adapt to the different types of skin within a tattoo. Just as with self-inflicted wounds (see below), we need to be aware of the personal fates that may be associated with a wound.
