The octopus

Lexicon - by Dirk-Boris RödelThe fact that this cover-up, i.e. this work of covering an old tattoo with a new one, was carried out with an octopus motif of all things, makes sense on various levels: For one thing, octopuses or octopods (both plural forms are possible) have an ink sac from which they can eject dark liquid in case of danger in order to confuse predators, and what motif is better suited as a tattoo design than an animal that can produce ink!In addition, octopuses (also commonly known as octopuses), like chameleons, have the ability to adapt their color to that of the respective background in order to camouflage themselves - an ability that naturally predestines them as a motif for cover-up work, because the respective tattoo artist can choose the current color of the animal in such a way that it easily makes the tattoo motif to be covered up disappear.

Cover-up

And finally, their almost unlimited flexibility makes the tentacled sea creatures excellent cover-up motifs, as the tattoo artist can arrange and drape the head and arms or tentacles of the ink animal so that they lie exactly over dark areas of the previous motif or overlay curves and lines so that nothing of them can be seen later. In addition to these points, which make octopuses so suitable as tattoos and especially as cover-up designs, the cephalopods also have many other amazing characteristics, the most impressive of which is their intelligence. Octopuses are extremely adaptive, can perform even complex tasks in a very short time and also learn by observing other members of their species. Another ability that makes them a kind of "spirit animal", especially for drummers, is their ability to move each of their eight arms completely independently of the others - a talent that is the envy of every drummer! However, most of their fellow species are not really suitable for making reliable predictions about the future, as demonstrated by octopus Paul, who became famous as a football oracle.
